ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I write about women in the second half of their stories.

Hello, I'm Margot. I write women's fiction set in the small, salt-bleached town of Hartwell Bay, a place that exists half in memory and half along the Atlantic coast where I grew up.

My novels are about midlife reinvention, complicated mothers, old loves who reappear at inconvenient moments, and the quiet bravery it takes to keep choosing your own life. I write the kind of stories I needed when I was thirty-eight, newly divorced, and convinced the interesting part was over. (It wasn't.)

When I'm not writing, you'll find me at the farmers' market, in the bath with a battered paperback, or trying — and failing — to keep a sourdough starter alive.
