ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I write the books I'd be afraid to read alone.

J. R. Kane is the New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author of the Detective Mara Voss series and four standalone thrillers. Her work has been translated into 32 languages and adapted twice for television.

Before publishing her debut, Kane spent twelve years as a court reporter, sitting through every kind of trial a city can produce. The transcripts taught her two things: how people lie, and how the smallest detail tends to be the one that hangs them.

She lives on the coast of Maine with a black lab named Hitchcock, writes before sunrise, and considers a thriller successful only if at least one reader has emailed to complain about losing sleep.
